Dusica Peric - English professional biography


Dusica Peric lives in Caracas, Venezuela where she works with medical humanitarian organisation Médecins sans Frontières developing a programme of psychosocial support in the context of urban violence.

She was born in Serbia, where she completed her education at the University of Humanities and Social Sciences, obtaining the title of Philologist of English Language and Literature. After graduating she worked as English teacher with children aged eight to fourteen in primary education.

She started working with Médecins sans Frontières in 2003 in Mental Health Programme in Serbia, facilitating occupational workshops for children affected by conflict and displacement. At the same time she attended trainings of Group Work with Children and Adolescents and Mental Health in Primary Health care. In 2005 she worked with Swedish Organisation for Individual Relief in Serbia supporting the process of integration of refugees in local community.

From 2006 she continued her engagement with Médecins sans Frontières in the programmes of HIV/AIDS carried out in Tanzania and Zimbabwe where she developed health promotion as “outreach” community programme and set up support groups for people living with HIV/AIDS with special focus on children groups. Her work also included the formation of children and adolescent clubs for health education and early detection of psychosocial needs.

From 2009 onwards, as Programme Coordinator of Médecins sans Frontières she worked in various humanitarian programmes and emergency interventions in IndiaNigeriaKenyaSomalia and currently Venezuela.

In 2015 she attended the course “Learn to Play” presented by Prof.ssa Karen Stagnitti in Rome and organized by the International Academy for Play Therapy studies and PsychoSocial Projects INA PT-PSP in collaboration with APTI Association of Play Therapy Italy which led her to continue developing her interest in Play Therapy. In the same year she decided to become a member of INA PT-PSP and started her engagement in terms of “Socio Operativo”.
